Are you interested in Social Media or New Media? Do feel finding quality articles on the web can be time consuming? I am the New Media Marketing Coordinator at a large test preparation company and part of my day results in reading a ton Social Media and New Media articles, blog posts, and press releases. I thought it would be a good idea to share the ones I found interesting. Feel free to comment below and answer the questions in bold. I would love to hear your opinions on the articles. Below you will find the most interesting articles that I read today (click on the title to view the entire article):
1. “Research shows adults are taking over social-networking sites” (ksl.com) – Percentage of adultson social networking sites went from 8% to 35% from 2005. This is a very interesting trend…. A trend that marketers need to keep an eye on if they are not taking advantage of social media. Do you think large companies will continue to hop on the social media train?
2. “Social News Site Digg Cuts 10 Percent of Staff” (The New York Times) – This is a follow up to one of the interesting articles I found yesterday about Twitter and Digg. The article yesterday mentioned that Twitter has surpassed Digg in traffic, mainly because Digg’s numbers were dropping and Twitter’s numbers were increasing. Interesting read if you liked the article yesterday. Do you think Digg will bounce back?
3. “Three Business Lessons From The Success Of Barack Obama” (U.S. News) – This article was interesting because of the second bullet point (lesson). Barack leveraged social networking sites to the extreme during his election. McCain, not so much. That could have played a major role in his victory. Do you think Obama’s social media marketing helped him get into office?
4. “E*Trade on YouTube” (YouTube.com) – A press release from E*Trade today announced that the “Talking Baby” is back for this year’s Super Bowl. Can’t wait to see what they come up with. The URL above is linked to E*Trade’s YouTube account. You can watch some of the outtakes that didn’t make the final cut. Heck… It’s Friday, LAUGH : )
