CBM = Must Have Internet Marketing Strategy
Adam DesAutels on 05 19, 2009
Would you ever purchase a car without test driving it first? How about buying a house without stepping foot inside? If so I would love to sell you a car and a house (LOL). The process of consumers testing out products before they buy has increased extremely considering money is tight for a lot of people right now. They are taking more time before making a buying decision. Have you positioned your business for this type of consumer?
People are still purchasing what you have to sell. If you have not already heard of the concept “Content Based Marketing (CBM)”, listen up. You have the ability right now to gain market share in your industry.
Drug Dealing 101
The marketing strategy of drug dealer has not changed sense the inception of it’s existence. The particular strategy used has increased drug trafficking year after year, in good economy conditions and poor (despite the terrible packaging and presentation). While I am by no means advocating the industry, you must give the devil his due. With so many businesses facing extinction, maybe it is time to take a page out of the this particular book. The simple strategy: “Give Some Away and They Will Want More”
What a concept! Give someone a taste of a quality product for free and they will actually buy more. Can you fathom the first time this was brought up in the car industry? I can just imagine a guy hesitantly standing up in a board meeting and quietly suggesting “What if we let them drive the car before we ask them to purchase it?” I am sure he was faced with an initial reaction of doubt and ridicule. “But that would depreciate the value of the car.” What objections would your boss have if you suggested that you give something away for free in a down economy? What questions would you have to answer? I talk to a lot of marketing people because of my job. Many of them say the buzz about “Content Based Marketing” is not being received well within corporate america. To bad for them… More money for us!

- YouTube – More people search on YouTube every month than on Yahoo!
- Comment on Other Blogs – Make sure it adds value to the initial blog posting
- Twitter – Supply tidbits of content to your following
